The National Winter Service Research Group (NWSRG) is hosting a roadshow event in Milton Keynes on the 17th of this month, the latest in a series of successful one-day workshops.
Taking place at Unity Place 200 Grafton Gate, Milton Keynes, the event is free for local authorities and just £50 for private consultancies or non-supporting members of the NWSRG technical advisors group.
Among the highlights on the agenda is NWSRG chair Carol Valentine giving an opening address on the key issues facing winter service in the UK.
There will also be a collection of technical papers, including one on the critical subject of winter service for vulnerable road users, hosted by Adrian Runacres, an expert in local authority risks, liabilities and responsibilities.
In the afternoon, there will also be a chance to shape the future of the NWSRG's national winter guidance, which is currently under review, through a 'safe space' table discussion. This month's focus will be on Section 5 'Treatment methods & technologies'.
Other highlights include TED-style talks on:
- Delivering winter services for cyclists and pedestrians
- Pre-wet winter service in practice – live examples, best practice and key considerations
- Mental health in winter service – recognising challenges, reducing stigma, and building resilient teams
