New surface and markings stop roundabout accidents

Resurfacing work and improved markings has meant an end to accidents at a busy roundabout in Bolton.

The A666 Kearsley roundabout was the scene of 29 accidents, resulting in 41 casualties, from October, 2005 to October, 2010.

The road was resurfaced and new markings painted in February as part of a road safety scheme led by local contractor A E Yates.

There have been no accidents since the work was carried out, a local residents meeting was told by Malcolm Fairhurst, of Bolton Council’s highways department.
