NMC wins £4m contract for public realm work in Sheffield

North Midland Construction (NM Group) will undertake public realm work in Sheffield after being awarded a contract worth £4 million by the city council.

The public realm works are part of a joint initiative between the University of Sheffield and Sheffield City Council and aim to transform the public spaces around the University of Sheffield’s campus, with new pedestrian and cycle routes, improved crossings on Upper Hanover Street and Western Bank, and much greener, safer public spaces for everyone to enjoy.

The works have been supported by funding from Sheffield City Region Investment Fund, as well significant investment from the University’s own funds.

NM Group’s highways and utilities division has already successfully delivered several similar projects for Sheffield City Council and this latest scheme will see the division drawing on its expertise to provide further high quality improvements to public spaces in Sheffield, helping to regenerate the city and promote growth and prosperity.
