CE marking for permanent traffic signs will become a legal requirement from next Monday (1 July).
In the UK from 1 July 2013, as part of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR), it will be unlawful to supply a permanent traffic sign or related component that has not been manufactured to the standard BS EN 12899-1: 2007. This means that self-certification will no longer be acceptable.
Technology company 3M has been CE marking its reflective sheeting material since 2006 and has produced a simple question and answer guide on CE marking.
This guide forms part of an in-depth report on CE marking that can be read in the June issue of Highways Magazine.
