EM secures Croydon contract extension

EM Highway Services has secured a two-year extension to its London Borough of Croydon (LBC) contract.

The company has been working in Croydon since October 2011, delivering a range of services, including the maintenance, construction and alteration of structures within the area.

Mitesh Solanki, local authority service director, said: “Being awarded this extension is a testament to the good work EM has carried out in Croydon. We have built a strong relationship with the client and local community and are pleased to be able to continue on this path.

“However this doesn’t mean we can stand still. We have a lot of work to do to continue delivering an excellent service to the residents of Croydon. That includes developing action plans to provide the London living wage and apprenticeships to local people as well as working more closely with small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

EM achieved BS11000 certification for collaborative relationships between the client, supply chain partners and itself – the only highways maintenance service provider to achieve the standard with a local authority partner.

Steve Iles, head of highways and parking at Croydon Council, added: “Awarding the contract to EM Highways in October 2011 was a step change in the way Croydon delivered its highway services. Since the start of the contract EM’s and the council’s staff have built on the council’s values and developed a culture of collaboration.”
