The future of the Highways Maintenance Efficiency Programme (HMEP) will be discussed at this year's Highways SIB (Seeing is Believing).
HMEP is a £6 million, Department for Transport (DfT) funded and sector led transformation programme. It connects networks from across the highways sector and provides the tools and resources to ignite ideas and help leaders and managers to transform delivery of roads and services through greater efficiencies.
This year’s conference agenda will include a debate around the future of the programme and its move towards self-sufficiency.
HMEP programme manager Haydn Davies said: "The Highways Maintenance Efficiency Programme (HMEP) is delighted to be supporting Highways SIB (Seeing is Believing). With the sector’s help we will be putting on a workshop where we can explain and get your views on how HMEP is in transition from a DfT funded position to one that is self-sustaining. This will be an opportunity to speak to people from the programme and exhibitors who supply many of the goods and services that play a vital part in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of local highways maintenance and management.”
This year’s Highways SIB event is taking place at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground in Leicestershire from 9-10 November and exhibitors will be given increased visibility via the introduction of a two-way street with companies invited to display their products.
To make things even easier products will be highlighted in clearly defined zones that are the most relevant to participating exhibitors. The introduction of designated drop-off points and a new SIB App will ensure that visitors are encouraged to take a closer look at the products and services on display. The zones (subject to change) are: Maintenance matters; Making our mark; Safety in action; Signage solutions; A smarter network; Lighting the way – which will complement the popular showpiece demonstrations taking place on the fully marked motorway area of the track.
Highways SIB (Seeing is Believing) is brought to you by Highways Magazine – the UK’s ONE and only magazine dedicated to the highway maintenance and traffic management industry – and Smart Highways Magazine – the UK’s only ITS and advanced traffic management magazine.
