A legal query saw North East Lincolnshire Borough Council and North Lincolnshire Council extend the enquiry deadline for their £12m street lighting maintenance framework.
The current framework is set to expire on 31 October 2025. The deadline for suppliers to enquire about participating in the new framework was extended by two days from 28 July to 30 July.
When approached for clarification as to why the deadline had been extended, North East Lincolnshire Borough Council stated that it was to allow additional time for a legal question from a participant in the procurement process to be answered fully.
The new framework is expected to be divided into two lots – one for each council. The first lot will oversee works in North East Lincolnshire and will see the lion's share of the total funding at an estimated value of £9.6m. The remaining £2.4m is allocated to lot 2 for works taking place in North Lincolnshire.
The contract also specifies that the successful supplier for Lot 1 must have a depot ‘within the borough of North East Lincolnshire’.
The framework is expected to last for four years initially from November 2025 until October 2029, with the possibility of four further 12-month extensions until October 2033, which will be allocated ‘based on performance’.
