A £3m resurfacing scheme for the M1 in Northern Ireland will start this week, the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) has announced.
The project will see works take place along the eastbound carriageway between Junctions 11 and 10 and is expected to be completed by 8 August, although the department does note that this is ‘subject to favourable weather conditions’.
A temporary speed limit of 50mph will be put in place to protect DfI staff while the work takes place. Overtaking will also be prohibited for the duration of the works.
Infrastructure minister Liz Kimmins said: ‘This is a very significant investment in our motorway network.
‘I would like to thank the travelling public in advance for their cooperation while these much-needed works are complete and appeal for everyone to please slow down, be patient and abide by all temporary traffic management arrangements.’
