Matchtech to recruit for A14 improvement scheme

Matchtech has been named as one of four preferred agencies to source contractors for the A14 improvement scheme.

The Highways England project, which will be delivered by a joint venture between Skanska, Costain, Balfour Beatty and Carillion, proposes to relieve traffic congestion over 21 miles between Huntingdon and Cambridge.

The £1.5 billion government-funded scheme will generate a vast number of both permanent and contract job opportunities over the next four years. A number of skillsets will be required, including foremen, supervisors, agents, project managers, planners, quantity surveyors and engineers.

Commenting on the project, Joe Wilson, highways, transportation and planning department manager at Matchtech said: “With our previous experience supplying engineers to work on major roads projects across the UK, Matchtech is well placed to help find talented professionals to work on this exciting project.”

Chris Taylor, senior responsible officer (SRO), Highways England, said: “Approval of the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon improvement scheme is great news for the road construction industry and skilled workers in the sector.
