More resurfacing works in Northern Ireland

Roads Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the start of a £105,000 resurfacing scheme in Magherafelt, Northern Ireland.

The work is taking place on the A42 Gulladuff Road and stretches from the village of Gulladuff for a distance of approximately one kilometre towards the Curragh Road.

The Minister said: “This scheme will improve the existing road surface to provide reduced maintenance costs.”

To help minimise any inconvenience to the travelling public the work is programmed to be completed using traffic control. A one day road closure will be required to facilitate laying the final surface layer.

The scheme is expected to be completed on 20 September.

In other news, a £220,000 resurfacing project on Spout Road, Strabane is near completion.

Asphalt resurfacing is being laid on a section of Spout Road from a location 400 metres east of Strabane town boundary for a distance of 1.8 km going east on the B536 in the direction of Plumbridge.

Kennedy added: “This scheme will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on this route between Strabane and Plumbridge.”
