A new highways maintenance efficiency award that is supported by the Highways Maintenance Efficiency Programme (HMEP) will be up for grabs at this year’s Highways Magazine Excellence Awards.
It will be awarded to a local authority highway maintenance service, team or partnership which has developed and implemented a transformational approach to service delivery, resulting in service improvement, measurable cost efficiencies and enhanced customer satisfaction.
The award is open to all authorities in the highways sector, regardless of their level of engagement with HMEP.
Highways Magazine editor Alec Peachey said: “With the government setting aside funding to incentivise good asset management and efficiencies, the launch of this new award is extremely timely. We are delighted that it is supported by HMEP as this is further recognition of the stature of the Highways Magazine Excellence Awards.”
Geoff Allister, executive director, Highways Term Maintenance Association (HTMA) and Highways Maintenance Efficiency Programme (HMEP) board member, said: “The new highways maintenance efficiency award is an opportunity for highway professionals, from clients and providers, to show leadership and demonstrate excellence by sharing examples and practices of greater efficiencies and how roads, services and public satisfaction have improved.”
Steve Kent, Highways Maintenance Efficiency Programme (HMEP) board member and efficiency advocate, added: “Given the context of future highways funding, sharing and showcasing practices, expertise and knowledge so that everyone can benefit from across the sector has never been more important: the highways maintenance efficiency award will provide a great opportunity to do this.”
This year’s Highways Magazine Excellence Awards will take place at the Lancaster London on 14 October 2015. Entries will open on 4 March.
