The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM) has invited tenders for a highway maintenance and capital works contract with an estimated value of up to £114.8m.
The contract would run for seven years from April 2026 until March 2033 and has a possible extension to March 2040. It covers the maintenance and repair of 375 miles of road network, 497 miles of footways, over 300 bridge structures and 26,000 road drains, among other aspects of the network.
In the tender document, RBWM states that its highway network is a ‘key community asset, supporting both the local and national economy, contributing to the character and environment of the borough’.
It adds: ‘Efficient transport links are vital for a thriving population and economy, providing access to employment, education, healthcare, retail outlets and leisure and to all the other services and supplies we rely upon to support our needs.
‘Maintenance of the network is vital to ensure it can continue to provide the principal element of the overall transport network.’
