Gateshead Borough Council has announced plans for a contract framework covering the hire of plant, equipment, vehicles and welfare units, with an estimated value of £3.3m.
The framework is expected to be divided into 10 lots:
- Lot 1 - Operated 180 Excavator (JCB) + Full range of buckets – estimated value £2.24m
- Lot 2 - Operated Plant (Other) (ie. 360 excavators etc.) – estimated value £36,000
- Lot 3 - Non operated Plant – estimated value £36,000
- Lot 4 - Non operated Tipper trucks – estimated value £48,000
- Lot 5 - Operated Tipper trucks – estimated value £540,000
- Lot 6 - Non operated Other Heavy Vehicles (above 3.5 tonne) – estimated value £60,000
- Lot 7 Small Tools – estimated value £60,000
- Lot 8 - Access Equipment – estimated value £60,000
- Lot 9 - Fuel Tanks – estimated value £12,000
- Lot 10 – Accommodation – estimated value £240,000
The council is considering the use of an OPEN framework with an initial period of two years, followed by a reopening of the framework for new bids every two years, for a maximum of eight years.
It is scheduled to run from 1 January 2026 to a possible end date of 31 December 2033.
The tender is planned for publication on 22 September, with the submission deadline on 22 October.
