Transport for London (TfL) has opened applications for a share of £550,000 to support community and not-for-profit organisations to encourage active travel.
Successful applicants to the Walking and Cycling Grants London (WCGL) would be allocated a maximum of £5,000 over a year.
According to TfL, last year’s WCGL programme helped support 57 new projects, with a total of 395 receiving funding since the scheme's launch in 2016.
TfL has also opened applications for Community Ideas Grants. This programme is intended to ‘help kickstart smaller projects across London that are based on previous successes in other communities’.
Potential candidates will be able to browse successful former schemes on the Community Ideas Hub, which TfL hopes will make the application process more equitable and allow grant recipients to replicate these projects in their local community.
Will Norman, London's walking and cycling commissioner, said: ‘TfL's WGCL programme is helping to transform the lives of thousands of Londoners by empowering communities and local organisations to encourage more walking, cycling and active travel in their area.
'The Mayor and I encourage community and not-for-profit groups in our city to apply for available grants which can help bring their ideas to life as we build a better, greener and more accessible London for all.’
The application deadline for both grants is 8 September, and applications can be submitted here.
