Atkins and Hyder land Highways Agency tech deal

Atkins, in partnership with Hyder, have been awarded a three-year contract by the Highways Agency to deliver specialist technical support to the seven Regional Control Centres (RCCs) across England.

The contract will see Atkins provide expert technical advice on the technology systems used within the RCCs.

Atkins will support the HA by helping to identify performance issues and working with suppliers and maintainers to improve the systems to meet the needs of the traffic operators.

Atkins will also provide a system administration service for the traffic operators, 24/7, 365 days a year.

Operators currently use several systems to manage the traffic officers and the network, including Command and Control, Integrated Communications Control System, Airwave and operational telephony.

This work will focus on ensuring the availability of these systems within the RCCs, which will help support the HA to effectively manage its road network.
