Ross Bullerwell has announced that he is stepping down as managing director of NY Highways to set up his own business.
Well-known in the sector after a long and varied career, Mr Bullerwell joined NY Highways as MD two years ago helping to establish and mobilise the new company.
NY Highways is a ‘Teckal’ company created by North Yorkshire County Council in June 2021.
Mr Bullerwell said in a social media post: 'I’m excited to now announce that I’ve decided the time is right to set up my own company, still working in all things highways, but focusing on helping businesses grow and supporting local authorities on service delivery decisions.
'I’ll still be heavily involved with highways volunteer work too including LCRIG and the IHE, two organisations that I have the greatest respect for. This is a fantastic industry and I’ll never leave it.
'When you leave any position you should always work your notice with pride, continuing leadership and ensuring your legacy is to leave the company in the best place possible.'
He added that he was proud to have led a fantastic team at NY Highways and established a 'forward-thinking innovative business that has met and surpassed expectations'.
The company is now advertising for a new MD to take it onto the next phase.
It aims to recruit someone who can 'create shareholder value by delivering services in the "the North Yorkshire Way" by ensuring right first time delivery that puts the customer at the heart of what we do in an effective and efficient way'.
'Longer term there will be the need to become established in new markets, develop new services and achieve business growth,' NY Highways said.
