Costain has announced the appointment of former Amey boss Andy Denman as its new road sector director.
Mr Denman has more than 25 years of experience leading highways and construction businesses and has also held posts at Ringway Jacobs, Skanska and Atkins.
He joined Costain from Amey, where he was the highways sector director working closely with National Highways, Transport Scotland and local authorities across the UK.
The appointment came after Costain was recently selected by National Highways for its new Specialist Professional and Technical Services Framework (SPaTS3), which will cover the Roads Investment Strategy 3 (2026-2031).
National Highways has also made Costain a delivery partner for the M60 Simister Island Interchange scheme, which received funding confirmation in the Government’s recent Infrastructure Pipeline.
In his new role, Mr Denman will drive 'strategic focus on growth in strong markets, delivering complex schemes, renewals projects and maintenance services', Costain said.
Jonathan Willcock, managing director, transportation, at Costain, commented: 'Our strategy of delivering engineering-led, best-in-class services to our transportation customers in strong markets is working. Andy has a wealth of experience shaping and leading high-performing highways infrastructure programmes and his appointment will support our continued growth in the nationally-critical roads sector.'
Mr Denman added: 'There is excellent momentum in Costain and I’m looking forward to building on its reputation and heritage in delivering complex road infrastructure that creates economic growth and improves people’s lives.
'A key focus for me will be to work with our customers and supply chain partners to drive innovation, efficiency and safety as we continue to provide predictable, best-in-class infrastructure services to a diverse road customer mix.'
