FM Conway has signed a memorandum of understanding with Shell to develop a collaborative decarbonisation strategy.
The agreement ensures the parties will work together to achieve FM Conway’s transition to carbon net zero and will focus on the following areas of business:
- Energy management
- Transport
- Plant and tools
- Sustainable bitumen and asphalt technology
- Carbon offsets
- Training and development
FM Conway said in a statement: 'The joint strategy will explore options such as renewable energy solutions, and next generation fuels, as well as exploring a collaborative approach for both FM Conway and Shell’s electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, SureCharge and Shell Recharge respectively.'
FM Conway launched its Net Zero Strategy in November 2021, setting out a roadmap for the Kent-based outfit to become a net zero carbon business by 2045.
The new partnership builds upon this by utilising Shell’s knowledge and expertise to accelerate the decarbonisation process.
Joanne Conway, FM Conway group chair, said: 'As a pioneer of sustainable construction activities, FM Conway recognises the importance of achieving net zero for both our business and the wider industry so that we can ultimately protect our planet’s resources.
'A key element of our Net Zero Strategy focuses on collaborating with our clients and partners to share best practice and I am delighted that this agreement with Shell means that we can take the next step towards a net zero future.'
Ana Alvernhe, general manager, Shell Construction and Road, said: 'We’re delighted to partner with FM Conway and support them in their net zero journey. This collaboration is critical to the sector, which is amongst the hardest to decarbonise, and we’re committed to working together to identify the low and zero-carbon solutions available right now to make a difference, and in the longer-term deliver offers that are in development.'
