Tarmac has bolstered its contracting senior management team with the appointment of former Carillion MD Andy Brown as director, Tarmac Infrastructure.
Mr Brown was previously UK managing director for civil engineering at collapsed infrastructure and outsourcing giant Carillion. He will lead the infrastructure team and its delivery of public sector civil engineering projects.
The appointment follows the building materials and construction solutions business' recent acquisition of regional civil engineering specialist Griffiths.
Mr Brown said: ‘This is an exciting opportunity to join a strong team and build on Tarmac’s existing capabilities to deliver nationally important infrastructure projects.
‘I’m looking forward to working with Tarmac to build on our civil engineering offer for customers.’
Paul Fleetham, managing director at Tarmac Contracting, added: ‘Andy’s wealth of experience in the infrastructure sector will help us continue driving the breadth of service we offer to customers and build on the innovative, expert services that our clients expect.’
Tarmac directly employs around 7,000 people across a nationwide network of over 400 sites. Its products include aggregates, asphalt, cement, lime, readymix concrete, road contracting services, building products and recycling services.
Its parent company is CRH, the global building materials group.
