Octavius Regional Civil Engineering has been subcontracted by Galliford Try to assist with the £105m Banwell Bypass project in North Somerset.
Selected by primary contractor Galliford Try, Octavius is expected to handle the delivery of civils works, structures and drainage packages for the 3.3km-long bypass road that will run between the A371 and A368.
Highways understands that the Octavius contract has an estimated value of £6m, but this is likely to be augmented with further works as the project progresses.
Members of the Octavius team are already on-site ‘undertaking enabling works and supporting the statutory undertakers to divert assets’.
Chris Ellis, delivery director for Octavius, said: ‘The win extends our client portfolio, a first project for Galliford Try in the southwest. As well as creating a new road we are also helping provide new walking, cycling and horse-riding routes – fostering more integrated and sustainable ways of travel in the west.’
