National Highways has extended its contract for Trimble's AgileAssets cloud software, which includes a decision-support solution for future structural maintenance.
The software enables the government-owned company to forecast the condition of bridge assets on England's strategic road network.
National Highways also uses the software to help with the valuation of asset stock for reporting to the UK National Audit Office (NAO), Trimble said. AgileAssets is also set to support the next road investment strategy (RIS 3).
The original contract ran from January 2020 to January 2024. The total value was £650,000, including the £210,000 cost of the extension.
Trimble added that the software helps identify infrastructure renewal projects that bring the most significant benefits in multiple areas, including public safety, financial stewardship, economic development, and environmental responsibility.
Trimble has collaborated with road and structures management entities in the UK and in more than 15 countries worldwide and has used the software successfully to optimise roadway and structures management of the M25 since 2015.
Cyndee Hoagland, senior vice president of Trimble's Owner and Public Sector, said: ‘Resilience, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability of public infrastructure have long been a key focus at Trimble.
‘Now, with an even broader range of digital technologies to support our customers in managing the full lifecycle of their assets — from design and construction to operations and maintenance — we are helping organizations advance toward their long-term goals for delivering safer and longer-lasting infrastructure.’
AgileAssets is delivered through a subscription-based, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model.
Both the original contract and the extension were awarded through the UK Government's G-Cloud framework, a cooperative purchasing program that aims to help government entities procure cloud-hosted IT systems efficiently and cost-effectively.
