Birmingham unveils highways winners

Birmingham City Council has released details of its preferred highways improvements contractors for the next four years.

The Highways and Infrastructure Works Framework Agreement has been broken down into four lots governing minor and major works in the West Midlands.

Fiftteen contractors have been selected for the £200m work programme, with seven making the grade to carry out major works of over £500,000.

The works will include general highway and junction improvements, traffic signal installations, provision of bus and cycle lanes, public realm and environmental works, utility diversions and connections and liaison with other contractors and developers and highway maintenance.
