The Environment Agency has launched a major survey into hydrology in the UK that could inform local water management and flood protection.
The UK Hydrology Skills and Satisfaction Survey 2023 aims to benchmark the current situation of UK hydrology, to provide evidence for future actions of the UK Flood Hydrology Roadmap and to build skills, esteem, and the value of hydrology.
Please take the survey by clicking here.
The Environment Agency said: 'The survey is for anyone who is a user of hydrology, whether or not you would call yourself a hydrologist. We consider the use of hydrology to include undertaking or reviewing hydrology studies yourself and/or commissioning others to do them on your behalf. The survey covers all forms of hydrology, including low and high flows.'
Dr Chris Skinner, a leading Hydrologist at the Environment Agency, told Highways: 'We’re looking to get responses from as many people as possible who use hydrology in the UK. It will form a really important piece of evidence to help improve skills, provision, and inclusion across UK hydrology, and beyond. The more responses we get, the better informed future actions will be for the UK Flood Hydrology Roadmap.'
The survey is being facilitated by the Environment Agency on behalf of the UK Flood Hydrology Roadmap Board and the hydrological community.
It should take around 10 minutes to complete and all responses are completely anonymous.
The survey is live until 26 February 2023 and the results will be detailed in a report due to be published on the forthcoming Flood Hydrology Improvements Programme webpages later this year.
