Great Scott! Stephen made lifetime member of RSMA

Stephen Scott receives his lifetime membership accolade on stage alongside friends and family

Stephen Scott, chairman of Wilson and Scott (Highways) Ltd, has been rewarded for his outstanding contribution to the markings industry with an honorary lifetime membership of the Road Safety Markings Association (RSMA).

The accolade was presented at the RSMA's national conference this month in recognition of his tireless efforts in the sector and acknowledges his legacy as a key figure in the industry.

Wilson and Scott’s managing director, Cameron Simms, took the opportunity to express heartfelt gratitude: 'It was truly an honour for me to take a moment to express our gratitude for the unwavering support Stephen has given to everyone at Wilson and Scott, as well as to the entire industry.

'His leadership, vision, and dedication have shaped not only our company but the road marking sector as a whole. It’s a privilege to work alongside someone who has made such a lasting impact, and to witness this milestone together.'

Looking back on his career, Mr Scott said: 'Reflecting on my earlier years, I realise just how much everyone’s approach has evolved, particularly as I now regard it as an exceptionally professional and demanding industry.

'I'm incredibly proud of the contributions I've made to this field. It’s important that we come together on occasions like this to celebrate our shared achievements and acknowledge each other's efforts. I am truly honoured to receive this membership. Thank you for this recognition.'

Mr Scott was the subject of a recent magazine Big Interview  (Page 16-17 Aug/Sept 2024), after he stepped away from his former, more hands-on, roles in the Wilson and Scott business.

He was described as part of a 'golden generation' of highway workers '[who] basically created the modern road environment...and exported this knowledge around the world. Sometimes it takes the departure of an industry statesman to bring this home: Stephen Scott is just such a man.'

A spokesperson at Wilson & Scott, added: 'Stephen’s commitment, innovation, and leadership have been a source of inspiration. His honorary membership is a well-deserved accolade for a career marked by dedication and influence. As the company looks to the future, they are excited to continue building on Stephen Scott’s legacy and to achieve new successes under his guiding hand.'
