Newark and Sherwood is looking to recruit to its newly created post of Lead Practitioner for Infrastructure. Infrastructure provision and delivery, whether it be roads, rail services, utilities, or digital networks, are key to the Council’s ambitions.
Without appropriate infrastructure, much of which is directly delivered by partner organisations, our residents cannot have the quality of life and opportunity they can and should expect. Nor can we support the significant growth we are delivering and have forecast in terms of housing and employment.
The post holder will have experience of planning or infrastructure programming and will be responsible for liaising and co-ordinating with a range of providers in order to ensure consistency, influence, and awareness of ambitions, funding, sequencing, blockages, and delivery of significant projects. The post holder will work across organisations and government departments, notably highway authorities, infrastructure providers (including digital providers), the Local Enterprise Partnership, Nottinghamshire County Council, and private developers.
Reporting to the Business Manager – Planning Policy and Infrastructure, the post holder would be responsible for supporting the Council’s Infrastructure Delivery Plan, Digital Infrastructure Policy, and annual Infrastructure Funding Statement. The role will also support the commissioning of physical infrastructure, including an A1 vehicular overbridge.
The Council promotes a culture of flexible / agile working and we are happy to discuss suggestions as to how the responsibilities of this role can be met through a flexible approach to hours and / or location.
