The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) is recruiting new members for its Road Expert Panel, which meets four times a year to provide 'insight on highways sector interests and issues'.
The panel is advisory to the ORR in its monitoring role for the strategic road network, aiming to help secure better outcomes for road users and wider stakeholders.
It works alongside other ORR expert panels, such as the Consumer Expert Panel, and supports relationships with outside organisations such as consumer watchdog Transport Focus.
New members should be in place by January 2022 and will be paid on a ‘fees for service’ basis at a daily rate of £1,000 pro rata for panel meetings. This includes preparation and reading time.
Panel discussions will usually be no more than a half-day, with a maximum of four meetings per year, and normally take place at the ORR's head office in Canary Wharf, London.
The ORR is hoping to recruit a panel 'with a wide range of experience and expertise to help us understand the issues affecting the roads sector, particularly the strategic road network; good regulatory practice; the use of technology, including AI, autonomous vehicles and digital roads and issues related to climate change, the environment and biodiversity'.
