You may not have heard him before, but you’ll probably have seen him – The Stig from Top Gear. Well one of those drivers from the Clarkson/May/Hammond era of the programme joins us on Talking Transport as Ben Collins discusses driverless cars.
In a wide ranging interview at a VENTURER open day he talks about why a racing driver would want to get involved in technology that takes the driving out of moving in a car, explaining that a lot of the technology from motor racing is extremely relevant to autonomous technology.
He also says why he is reluctant to support Level Three autonomy and that car manufacturers should be aiming straight for Level Four and also muses on what his former colleagues who’re now presenters of the Grand Tour make of the innovation.
We also mark your card for next week’s Traffex Seeing is Believing with conference director Adrian Tatum telling us about the event that is bigger and better (and warmer) than ever before. He describes what we’ll see on the outdoor test track, some of the exhibits and also they high-profile speakers that will lead the debate at the two day event.
To sign up to Traffex Seeing is Believing go to sib.uk.net or just turn up and register on the day at Bruntingthorpe in Leicestershire. And if you cannot make the event for reasons of diary clashes or geography, don’t forget there’ll be podcasts from there next week.
