Fixing potholes and improving local roads should be the top priority of local authorities.
That is the finding of latest research from May Gurney which shows 41 per cent of respondents polled said local roads were the service most in need of improvement. The figure rises to more than 50 per cent among residents aged over 65.
Other services in need of improvement highlighted by the poll include: hospitals and medical facilities, street cleaning, public transport, schools and recycling services.
John Wilkinson, Managing Director, Public Sector Services, May Gurney said: “It is also important to note that many residents feel there is room for improvement in local services and how they are delivered.
"If we are to better serve council taxpayers and improve the services they pay for, it is important we take notice of their perceptions and listen to what they have to say.”
