Traffic technology group SWARCO AG has acquired the majority shareholding in Bergauer Holding AG, a company which develops and integrates intelligent traffic guidance and control systems as well as customer-specific guidance systems for infrastructure and security projects.
SWARCO has already been present in the country with its an own subsidiary in Oberentfelden (Canton Aargau) and delivers and maintains central systems and traffic light controllers for urban, interurban and parking management.
In the medium term, the project planning, installation and services activities of Baden-Dättwil-based Bergauer Signalbau AG and SWARCO shall be merged into SWARCO SCHWEIZ AG which the company expects to achieve an even better service for the customers. Bergauer AG will continue to handle the project planning, development and maintenance of central guidance systems as well as the customer-specific enhancement of traffic controllers.
“With this step we reinforce our position in the Swiss traffic project business, expand our performance portfolio and achieve a better geographical coverage of the market”, explains Michael Schuch, SWARCO Executive Board member for Intelligent Transport Systems. “Already today the D-A-CH region with its traffic volumes is the most important market for us, both in terms of turnover and technological requirements.”
Daniel Sieberer, CFO of SWARCO AG, added, “Thanks to the partnership with Bergauer, our Swiss business, which is of high strategic value for us, receives major additional impulses.”
Bergauer’s Managing Director Markus Bergauer explained that he believes the cooperation with SWARCO offers competitive advantages and synergies. “We are proud to be part of a world market leader located in the neighbouring country of Austria. Thus, we will benefit from SWARCO’s new technologies and its international sales network, enabling us to serve our customers with an even more comprehensive offering”, he said. “We are well prepared for the digital age with such a strong partner.“
