An £8m scheme to improve a key Staffordshire junction is set to begin next month.
Staffordshire County Council’s A38 Branston Interchange project includes creating additional lanes around the junction, on the slip roads and on Branston Road and Parkway. New traffic signals will also be installed.
The council said the scheme will ease congestion and increase capacity.
The total cost is around £8m, with £6m coming from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund and a contribution from the main developer of the nearby Branston Locks site, Nurton Developments.

Deputy leader and cabinet member for economy and skills Philip White said: ‘The Branston Interchange junction is a key transport gateway into Burton and these vital improvements will bring long-term benefits to thousands of residents and businesses in the town and wider area.
‘It is a good example of infrastructure being provided to support new homes and business development providing better connectivity and helping attract investment and jobs.’
He added: ‘We’re pleased the Government recognised the significance of the Branston Interchange gateway which was detailed in our bid submission.’
National Highways project manager Harbinder Singh said: 'We’ve been working closely with Staffordshire County Council and Nurton Developments on this important scheme.
‘We continue to liaise with both parties to do what we can to minimise disruption while work takes place on this part of our network.’
Early works will take place on Branston Road, where a one-way road closure will be needed from February 10, the start of the half term week.
This phase is due to be completed on February 28.
Work is set to be completed in spring 2025.
