Changes due to signs and devices standard after industry spots errors

23/06/2022
Dominic Browne

Corrections will be made to the BS 8442:2022 standard on Miscellaneous road traffic signs and devices - Requirements and test methods, following concerns from the industry.

The Association for Road Traffic Safety and Management (ARTSM) requested an urgent meeting of the BSI B509/3 committee after spotting errors in the standard in May.

The committee agreed that the errors should be corrected however no timetable has been put in place. The amendments require a business case to BSI and this has now been drafted, Highways understands.

ARTSM said it was 'pushing for this to be expedited as soon as practicably possible'.
