One of the BBC’s most experienced foreign correspondents and presenters, Clive Myrie, will host the prestigious Highways Awards ceremony in September.
The event will celebrate the projects, products, teams, and individuals improving the highways industry and the lives of people across the UK.
Highways magazine, the UK’s leading publication for the road and traffic industry, will award 17 categories ranging from ‘Road Safety Scheme of the Year’ to ‘Best Use of New Technology Award’ as part of its this year's Awards.
Mr Myrie has made features and programmes for Panorama, Newsnight and Radio 4, and is the host of long-running quiz show Mastermind.
He presented the documentary, The Crown Jewels for BBC1, which was screened as part of the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
His travel series, Clive Myrie’s Italian Roadtrip, was a hit on BBC2, and one of the most popular shows on the BBC.
Alongside other presenters, he will lead the BBC's election night coverage on 4 July.
This year, the Highways Awards has introduced two new categories. The ‘Digital Transformation’ award will recognise organisations that have made a positive impact on working practices or service outcomes, in or outside their own operation, using digital technology and data analysis.
The ‘Line Marking and Street Design’ award will be celebrating professional excellence in place and road design and its impact on community social value, safety and civic transformation.
The full list of categories is available online. The deadline for entries is 5pm on Friday 7 June and table bookings are already open.
The ceremony will take place at Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge, London on 24 September.
