GEWI explains its real time roadworks application

The traffic data management company GEWI has released more details about its real time data service from vehicles in a moving work zone.

The system provides information about the exact location of lane closures to navigation devices and broadcasters by tracking the GPS of safety vehicles in roadworks zones in real time.

We want to use all the possibilities that lead to more safety on our roads,” said Minister of Transport Thomas Webel when the new warning System Saxony-Anhalt was put into operation.

“Improving road safety and significantly reducing the number of accidents is one of our core concerns,” the minister said. The objective of the provincial government, which is also anchored in the road safety concept, is “Vision Zero”. “By 2020, we want to reduce the number of road deaths by 40 percent and those of the seriously injured by 20 percent compared to the figures for 2010,” he added. The warning message is generated by the Work Zone equipment, which can be an arrow trailer, crash truck, or other device.

Planned stationary construction sites of the state road authority are collected in the same system as well, so that the driver is informed about all interferences at any time.
