In this new role, Jones will be responsible for "orchestrating the vision and roadmap" for moovel's portfolio of urban mobility products, including moovel transit, RideTap, and future innovations aimed at reinventing the current disconnected state of transportation into one seamless mobility ecosystem.
Moovel says Jones comes to moovel with more than 15 years of software innovation and leadership expertise, previously serving as the Director of Future Technology at Jaguar Land Rover where he was responsible for defining and leading the pre-development of the future infotainment, electronic and software systems. Leading large teams of software engineers and product professionals across a global operation, Jones oversaw the prototyping and production of both in-dash and mobile app solutions for vehicle routing, information and entertainment systems.
'Matt Jones is a huge asset to the moovel team. I can't imagine a better fit for our innovative culture and world-changing mission,' said Nat Parker, CEO of moovel North America. 'He has a wealth of experience in connected automotive technology based on his tenure at Jaguar Land Rover. He also brings a high degree of expertise in instituting both agile process change and digital product innovation to an OEM.'
'The mobility space is rapidly evolving and moovel is at the forefront with products that simplify the transportation experience, for both the consumer and the transportation operator. Their vision transcends what is currently available in mobility-as-a-service, and I'm looking forward to joining the team as a strategic thought partner. I plan on tapping into my automotive technology experience to develop products that exceed customers expectations in a truly connected world,' said Jones.
Jones was named "Automotive Influencer of the Year" in 2015 by TU-Automotive Detroit. He was also the driving force behind the creation of the 85,000-square-foot / 100+ engineer Jaguar Land Rover facilities in Portland, Oregon, that including the start-up focussed JLR Tech Incubator.
