Siemens launches new cloud-based traffic management module

Siemens has released an additional module to its Stratos product which it says enables traffic managers to keep the travelling public informed of current traffic conditions on the road network.

Designed using the latest web technologies with versions tailored for both desktop and mobile devices, the company says Siemens Stratos Emerge will allow local authorities to quickly and easily configure and automatically publish traffic network information to the public.

According to the company's Product Marketing Manager (Systems), David Pregon, network operators can choose what to publish with the new Stratos module including live traffic data current, car park information, variable message signs, collisions, incidents, roadworks and events. "Network operators can complement live traffic data with information about the local area including train stations, ports and airports as well as add tourist information points of interest with photographs and links to external websites", he said.

Siemens says Stratos is an entirely new approach to traffic management, information and control using secure hosted cloud infrastructure, improving reliability and releasing users from owning and maintaining dedicated servers.  With a continually growing set of capabilities, improved software support and regular feature updates, customers only need to pay for what they use and select those applications needed to manage the network.  "Stratos automatically scales to meet demand as the network grows and is easy and intuitive to operate, ideal for users with multiple roles," he added.
