Talking Transport celebrates SWARCO’s 50th birthday

The latest Talking Transport podcast celebrates the 50th birthday of one of the transport industry’s most diverse companies, SWARCO by taking a tour of its HQ and getting the history of the company.

Whether it’s road marking, signage, software or parking, SWARCO is involved. To mark the major milestone, SMART Highways editor Paul Hutton was given a tour of SWARCO Traffic World at the HQ in Wattens, Austria, get the history of the company and an insight into how to grow a business through innovation, acquisition and a lot of hard work.

The podcast discusses how the company started in 1969, its acquisitions into the Intelligent Transport Systems market, its growth and its mission to “improve quality of life by making the travel experience safer, quicker, more convenient and environmentally sound.” The podcast also discusses the loss of Manfred Swarovski last year and even the company’s sponsorship of an American Football team!

Talking Transport returns at the beginning of June with a series of “Pan Pond Podcasts”, reporting at the beginning of the week from the ITS European Congress in Eindhoven then heading to Washington, DC to get all the gossip from ITS America’s Annual Meeting.
