WJ receives sustainability award

WJ has been awarded gold status by the supply chain sustainability school.

Twenty six of the UK’s top construction contractors, FM service providers, clients and suppliers are now partners to the school and are recommending it as the ‘go to’ sustainability resource for their supply chains.

Launched in 2012, the school is a multi-award winning initiative which represents a common approach to addressing sustainability within supply chains.

With more than 8,000 members, the school provides free practical support in the form of e-learning modules, tailored self-assessment and action plans, sustainability training courses and networking opportunities.

Approximately 70% of WJ’s customer base consists of main contractor partners to the school with end client organisations such as Transport for London (TfL) and the Highways Agency.

“Sustainable development of our business is not just something we say, it really is embedded in our core operations and general business principles,” states Paul Aldridge, managing director of WJ South Limited.

Aldridge is the sustainability lead for the WJ Group and added: “WJ collaborate with our partners to deliver sustainably and we are alive to social and environmental impact whilst still operating profitably; it’s part of what we like to call behavioural efficiency with social responsibility. We believe that business can have a nett positive impact and our work with the school has cemented that.”
