The Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) has appointed former Highways editor Alec Peachey as its new content director.
Mr Peachey was editor of Highways from 2013 to 2017 and more recently has edited titles in the utilities sector, including content director on the Water and Wastewater Treatment (WWT) publication.
As part of his new role, he will be responsible for developing LCRIG’s overall content strategy in conjunction with the board.
Mr Peachey said: 'LCRIG has quickly become recognised as a leading body in the highways sector. I’m looking forward to working with the board and the organisation’s members to continue to raise the profile of LCRIG and highlight the good work taking place across the sector.
'I thoroughly enjoyed my time working in the industry when I was editor of Highways and can’t wait to get started. The sense of community is something that has always stayed with me and I’m looking forward to playing my part in helping LCRIG with its mission to facilitate fresh thinking in innovation and collaboration.'
He added: 'With local authorities continuing to face challenges it is vitally important that LCRIG plays a role in helping them develop opportunities to collaborate, innovate and advance new technology. Part of my role will be to ensure that the sector knows about some of these advancements. By doing that we can help the highways community come together for the betterment of the sector.'
The news comes after former Kier director, Martin Duffy, was appointed LCRIG chief executive. He wrote about his appointment for Highways here.
LCRIG has a membership of more than 60 local highway authorities and its annual Strictly Highways conference is a highlight of the sector’s calendar.
