VolkerHighways has won a core services maintenance contract with West Sussex County Council, set to begin on 1 April this year and last for seven years, with a possible extension of seven further years.
The deal has an estimated combined annual revenue and capital spend of £16.5m per annum and so could be worth over £230m.
Volker will be responsible for planned, responsive and emergency highway maintenance and improvement activities across the West Sussex region.
The work will include structures, footway and winter maintenance, patching, resurfacing, verge, signs and marking maintenance.
VolkerHighways managing director Peter Walsh said: 'VolkerHighways is excited to bring innovative solutions, local job opportunities, and long-term benefits to the county, reinforcing our mission in making lasting differences in the community.'
Matt Davey, assistant director for highways, transport and planning at West Sussex, said: 'We are delighted to have VolkerHighways as our new highways term maintenance delivery partner. We are looking forward to starting work with the team and continuing to deliver excellent services across the network.'
Volker said it was committed to maximising the social value impact of the contract by 'engaging and inspiring future construction professionals, aiding local charitable organisations, and responding to community outreach needs'.
