Aimsun has unveiled new branding at the Smart Cities Expo in Barcelona, in response, it says, to its rapid growth and changes in the industry.
It says its most dramatic news is the company's new name, which it says makes its focus clear.
"We are no longer TSS-Transport Simulation Systems but simply Aimsun,' said Alex Gerodimos, Executive Director of Marketing and Business Development. "We celebrate our 20th birthday this month and it's a great occasion for us to reflect upon our journey. Our daily lives have been all about Aimsun modeling software since the 1990s so in a sense, this a mere formality.
'Over the last ten years in particular we have really taken off, growing rapidly in size and expanding internationally from our original Barcelona base to New York, Paris, Sydney, Portland, London and now Singapore. Business has never been better: we are coming to more locations in 2018 and have a more international team than ever, so our visual identity needed to reflect our expanded sensibilities.'
The company says that, while it was originally a microsimulator, Aimsun software has over the years become the default all-in-one, multi-level toolkit. "It's a sort of Swiss army knife of modeling," says Gerodimos. "We now work around the globe and around the clock with public and private partners to solve the world's most complex mobility problems - it is no longer just about cars. We think of Aimsun Next as something much more than a simulator: it's a digital lab for analysing current and projected interactions of people, places, and modes of transport."
The company adds that it is also rebranding Aimsun Live, a real-time traffic management product that is taking off after the award-winning deployment in San Diego for SANDAG, with new deployments coming in North America, Australia, Europe and the Middle East.
